WHERE WE'RE MEETING
On the A821 between Kilmahog and Aberfoyle
Nearest postcode: FK17 8HY
(Sat Nav may get you close — look out for the signposted car park approx. 300m east of the Loch Katrine turning)
We'll be meeting at 10:00am sharp for a 10:15am walk start.
Afterwards, we’ll head (optional) to the nearby village of Aberfoyle — just a 12-minute drive away — for food, coffee, or cake. No pressure — totally up to you!
WHAT WE'RE DOING
We’re hiking Ben A’an, known as the "mountain in miniature", nestled in the stunning Trossachs National Park. This short but steep hillwalk offers breathtaking panoramic views over Loch Katrine, Loch Achray, and surrounding peaks.
WHAT TO EXPECT
🥾 Distance: 3.7 km (2.3 miles) round trip
⛰️ Height: 454 metres (1,490 feet)
⏱️ Duration: Approx. 2–3 hours
💪 Difficulty: Beginner-friendly, but steep & strenuous in places
🪨 Rocky paths and a final steep ascent — take your time and wear good footwear
🌲 Watch for red deer, buzzards & red squirrels along the way
📸 Views from the summit are worth it, promise!
This is a slow paced, supportive group walk — not a race. We’ll take lots of breaks, enjoy the views, and support each other to the top 💖

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
👟 Wear suitable footwear with good grip — the path can be rocky & slippery near the top
🧥 Bring layers — Scottish weather loves a surprise
💧 Bring water and any snacks you might want
🚻 Nearest toilets are at Trossachs Pier, not at the car park itself
📵 No toilet or refreshment facilities on the walk route — come prepared
☔ In the event of bad weather, the walk may be cancelled or changed at the host’s discretion
